The American University of Beirut (AUB) joins MILenARI as a key partner driving the decentralisation of CAR‑T production across Mediterranean Partner Countries. AUB co‑leads the work package dedicated to the establishment, certification, and validation of CAR‑T manufacturing facilities.
On 7 March 2026, the DIEM Jordan partner Tarmeem Center for the Training on the Preservation of Cultural and Natural Heritage organised an online workshop bringing together representatives from public authorities, universities and the private sector to discuss the current skills needs in the Cultural Heritage field.

The Tunisian partner Chambre de Commerce et d’Industrie du Cap Bon has launched a call for an external auditor to support CLUSTERATLAS4MED by verifying project expenditures and financial reports. Interested candidates can submit their proposals until 18 March 2026.
The meeting took place in Turkey, reviewed the activities carried out during the first six months of the project and jointly planned those for the next six months.
SMARTMED supports Mediterranean municipalities in upgrading public services through smart energy and health pilot applications. By combining real-world testbeds, cross-border cooperation and strategic digital planning, the project strengthens governance and accelerates sustainable urban transformation.
I am absolutely convinced of the importance of initiatives such as Interreg NEXT MED – a Programme created for the territories, with the territories, which puts the Mediterranean at the center of the European Union’s action. The success of the Programme is also related to the energy and commitment of the Region of Sardinia as Managing Authority.

NEXT MED is the largest Interreg programme on the EU’s external borders both in terms of funding and geographical coverage. When agreeing on the priorities, the 15 participating countries very wisely decided to focus on the most pressing needs and problems of the Mediterranean, in particular those that are best tackled jointly rather than by each country on its own. This is very much in line with the Commission’s vision.
