The Mediterranean Multi-Programme Mechanism (MMM) was launched with the initial contribution of three Interreg Programmes – Italy-France Maritime, Euro-MED, and NEXT MED – which initiated a two-year experimental phase in 2022–2023 to explore new ways of cooperating across the Mediterranean. In 2023, the Mechanism significantly expanded with the official entry of Interreg Italy-Croatia, Greece-Cyprus, Italy-Malta, and NEXT Italy-Tunisia, all of which actively contributed to shaping the joint action plan and strengthening the Mechanism’s shared vision. In 2025, further three Interreg programmes joined the MMM, further enriching this collaborative effort with new perspectives and territories: Interreg Italy-Slovenia, Interreg IPA South Adriatic and Interreg IPA ADRION.

The ‘sustainable tourism toolkit’: Inspiring solutions to face current and future challenges in the Mediterranean
Presented during the MMM laumncuhng event “Towards a More Sustainable Tourism in the Mediterranean” held in Florence on May 4th 2023, the sustainable tourism toolkit contains valuanle and tested results developed under projects funded by the nterreg Italy-France Maritime, Interreg Euro-MED and Interreg NEXT MED programmes to support stakeholders in n solving challenges they face across the Mediterranean in developing a vibrant, sustainable and responsible tourism sector.

“Paths That Last – Collaborating for a Sustainable Tourism in the Mediterranean”, a key conference of the MMM
One of they activities carried out under the MMM was the conference Paths That Last – Collaborating for a Sustainable Tourism in the Mediterranean, that took place on 25–26 June in Split (Croatia).
