Despite the challenges, 2024 has been a remarkable year of cooperation, resilience, and progress for the Interreg NEXT MED community. Through collective action and shared vision, we strengthened connections across the Mediterranean to create positive impact.
Key milestones like the #MEDTOUR, engaging over 3,000 participants in 13 cities (including Algeria and Türkiye as first-time hosts), and the overwhelming response to our First Call for Proposals – with 630 proposals – highlight the ambition for a better Mediterranean.
We also shed light on the transformative power of people through initiatives like the ‘Voices of Mediterranean‘ publication and the #POSITIVEMED campaign and actively participated in influential events like COP29 in Baku, Azerbaijan, the Arab SMEs Summit in Doha, Qatar and the EU Week of Regions and Cities in Brussels.
Finally, we unveiled the upcoming Call for Green Transition Projects, allocating a substantial budget of €83.7 million to advance a climate-resilient Mediterranean. The call is set to launch in mid-January 2025.
As we wrap up this year, we deeply thank our partners and community members for contributing to a Mediterranean that thrives.
