The Interreg NEXT MED Programme is pleased to announce the upcoming launch Call for Green Transition Projects, aimed at fostering scalable, collaborative solutions for a climate-resilient, low-carbon Mediterranean. This call provides a unique opportunity to address the multifaceted challenges of climate change in the Mediterranean region.

As the region is warming 20% faster than the global average, leading to significant challenges for communities, ecosystems and economies, the call aims to enable collective action and empower stakeholders to deliver impactful, sustainable projects aligned with the main global climate commitments.

With an EU budget of €83.7 million, the call adopts a comprehensive approach to tackle the consequences of climate change by focusing on key environmental sectors – energy efficiency, circular economy, climate adaptation and disaster resilience, and sustainable water management – and expanding to other critical areas, such as SMEs’ decarbonization, green innovation, skills for climate resilience, health system adaptation to climate change, and inclusive governance for effective climate policies.

Following the decision of the Monitoring Committee, the decision-making body of the Interreg NEXT MED Programme, the call will officially launch mid-January 2025 and close mid-April 2025.

From now on, interested organizations are encouraged to begin working on partnership building and project idea development using the available resources mentioned below.

Promote project ideas and find partners

Join our brand-new #MEDCONNECT platform, designed to help potential beneficiaries to connect with partners across the Mediterranean region and to build transnational partnerships. Whether you already have a project idea and you are looking for partners or if you want to join other organizations in developing project proposals, #MEDCONNECT facilitates connections among diverse stakeholders throughout the Mediterranean.

From 15 to 23 January 2025, a series of 10 online partner search events will be held. These 90-minute sessions are designed to provide an opportunity for participants to pitch their project ideas and engage with others as they present theirs.

Other important information

A general information event on the key features of the call will be held online on 9 January 2025, featuring two sessions: one in English and one in French. More details will be announced on this website.

In addition, the call will be supported by a series of national information events in the countries participating in the Programme, scheduled to take place from late January to early March 2025. Dates and locations will be announced on this website.
