About – Developing a pilot circular system for post-consumer textile waste in the Mediterranean

Waste2Fashion aims to minimise the negative environmental impact of post-consumer textile waste and maximising the socio-economic opportunities presented by the growing sustainable fashion sector. The project will deliver two cross-border pilots to collect, re-use and recycle and to prevent and revalorise post-consumer textile waste.
The post-consumer textile waste management and treatment pilot will address the shared challenges of Egypt, Italy, Lebanon, Spain, and Tunisia: adequate collection and sorting systems to meet the scale of need presented by a linear ‘fast’ fashion industry and the technical challenge of fibre separation in recycling, promoting eco-design and sustainable fashion principles.
