About – Green Ports Cluster for a Sustainable Mediterranean Maritime and Transport Ecosystem

The GREENMEDPORTS project tackles the environmental impact of maritime transport in the Mediterranean, a vital trade hub with high emissions. It aims to build a transnational ecosystem for sustainable maritime operations through a Carbon Footprint Platform and a Green Label Port certification. By upgrading port operations, promoting shared standards, and boosting collaboration among stakeholders, it supports the shift toward carbon-neutral, resilient, and greener transport across the region: (Algeria, Egypt, Italy, Jordan, Malta and Tunisia). The project also enhances innovation and competitiveness by fostering knowledge exchange and aligning local strategies with EU climate goals. Ultimately, it strives to position Mediterranean ports as leaders in the global transition to sustainable maritime transport.
