UNICT and ENEA have launched the stakeholder engagement process for the MEDWISE Community of Practice (CoP), aimed at creating a collaborative space for dialogue, knowledge exchange and co-creation around sustainable waste management solutions in the Mediterranean region.
The MEDWISE CoP provides a collaborative platform that brings together multiple stakeholders, including practitioners, researchers, policymakers, national, regional and local authorities, civil society organisations, and private sector stakeholders, such as SMEs, waste management companies, farms, businesses and industry.
On 24 April 2026, during ECOMED 2026 – Mediterranean Green Expo, UNICT and ENEA teams engaged with representatives from more than 50 businesses and stakeholders, presenting the MEDWISE CoP and inviting them to fill in the dedicated CoP survey. The survey is designed to collect information on participants’ profiles, organisational background, areas of expertise, links with waste-management and circular-economy initiatives, geographical scope of activity, relevant waste and resource streams, potential contributions to MEDWISE activities, expected benefits from participation, and interest in key project themes such as decentralised composting, industrial symbiosis and digital tools for waste management.
The MEDWISE CoP will exchange knowledge, share experiences, and contribute to the co-creation of innovative and sustainable waste management solutions. Its objective is to actively engage key stakeholders in shaping, testing and refining waste management solutions in the Mediterranean. By joining the CoP, stakeholders can contribute to practical and sustainable initiatives that address regional waste management challenges.
We encourage all relevant stakeholders to contribute to this initiative and support the development of sustainable waste management solutions for the Mediterranean region.
