On 18 February 2026, from 10:00 to 11:30 am (CET), CIHEAM Bari will lead the third online webinar of the FOODGaP Transnational Capacity Building Programme, dedicated to circularity, food loss and food waste.
Circularity has emerged as one of the main gaps across partner cities, with surplus management, redistribution and composting infrastructures still limited, particularly in Mediterranean and island territories. The session will support Local Public Authorities and practitioners with concrete tools and approaches to reduce waste and strengthen more sustainable and resilient food systems.
The webinar will introduce surplus redistribution models, composting and biogas solutions, zero-waste markets and local hubs, and showcase European pilot initiatives that can be scaled up at city level. Contributions will come from experts and practitioners, followed by an interactive Q&A session.
The Webinar 3 will:
- Equip Local Public Authorities with practical tools toreduce food loss and waste.
- Introducecircular economy solutions suitable for urban and peri-urban food systems.
- Address logistics challenges faced byislands and remote regions.
- ShowcaseEuropean pilots and best practices in circularity.
This event is part of FOODGaP – Transnational Capacity Building for a Common Knowledge on Food Policies, a project co-funded by the Interreg NEXT MED programme, which supports Mediterranean local authorities in improving food governance through training, exchanges and participatory approaches.
