Women, Innovation and Sustainable Transition – Entrepreneurship with a Difference: SPEEDUP moves on the Global Women’s Entrepreneurship Day

A presentation of the SPEEDUP project was given during an information day on the theme: ‘Women, Innovation and Sustainable Transition : Entrepreneurship with a Difference’, on the sidelines of Global Women’s Entrepreneurship Day and as part of Global Entrepreneurship Week in Tunisia, held on 19 November 2025 at the headquarters of UTICA / Tunisian Union of Industry, Commerce and Handicrafts. The day was organized in close collaboration with the Tunis Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Womenvai and the National Chamber of Women Entrepreneurs.
In her welcome speech, Ms Ramla CHEMLI, Deputy Treasurer of the CCIT, gave a brief overview of the projects supported by the CCIT as a partner in the field of entrepreneurship, namely the SPEEDUP Project, which was launched on 3 November at Patras Science Park in Greece.
This promising new project, funded as part of the Interreg NEXT MED international financial cooperation programme -Interreg NEXT MED Programme with a total budget of €2,808,980.00, has as its main objective the establishment of a regional hub in Tunis to accelerate the sustainable and competitive growth of SMEs and start-ups, thus acting as a catalyst and cluster and bringing together all relevant stakeholders in each field related to entrepreneurship.
For a period of 36 months, the SPEEDUP project will provide unemployed and disadvantaged people with the mentoring, motivation and organizational services they need to set up their own sustainable and competitive businesses.
In addition to the Tunis Chamber of Commerce and Industry, which is partner No. 6 and represents Tunisia in the Mediterranean region, there is also PATRAS SCIENCE PARK, Greece (Lead), the SEVILLE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE, Spain, the University of Aqaba in Jordan, the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT) in Egypt, the Centre for Competence Development in Cyprus and INJAZ in Lebanon.
Through acceleration programmes, SPEEDUP will integrate sustainability issues into SMEs from the outset. The content of the acceleration programmes will be linked to the green economy; the circular economy; competitiveness – as a core activity of any acceleration; ESG; equality and inclusivity.
