Watch the interview wih Miriam Navarro from the Valencian Institute of Building (IVE) and Lead Partner of the SHAREN project.
Within the framework of the Interreg NEXT MED launch and training event, held in Bari last October 2025, an interview was recorded with Miriam Navarro, from the Valencian Institute of Building (IVE) and Lead Partner of the SHAREN project, one of the 60 projects approved in the programme’s first call.
In the video, Navarro explains how SHAREN promotes energy sharing solutions and the development of energy communities, with a special focus on historic urban areas across the Mediterranean. The project aims to improve energy efficiency, encourage local renewable energy generation and strengthen citizen participation, while fully respecting the architectural and cultural heritage of the territories involved.
One of the key pillars of SHAREN is the development of tools and replicable models that enable cities and neighbourhoods to manage their energy resources collaboratively, reducing costs and emissions while actively engaging local communities in energy-related decision-making.
“The SHAREN project is helping to transform the way energy is conceived in historic urban environments,” highlights Miriam Navarro.
