In celebration of International Women’s Day, EU-funded PRIMA programme (Partnership for Research and Innovation in the Mediterranean Area) recently unveiled an inspiring initiative: the “Woman Greening Food Systems Award” in the Mediterranean. This award aims to recognize the remarkable contributions of women in advancing sustainable food systems across the region.

Launched on March 8th, the “Woman Greening Food Systems Award” seeks to shed light on the pivotal role of women in promoting sustainability, resilience, and innovation within food systems. By honoring their efforts, PRIMA aims to inspire further progress towards achieving food security and environmental sustainability in the Mediterranean region.

We are thrilled to support this initiative and indeed invite all relevant ENI CBC MED projects to apply. With a focus on promoting cross-border collaboration, ENI CBC MED projects have been instrumental in driving positive change and innovation in various sectors, including agriculture and food systems.

Entries for the contest are now open, and we encourage all eligible projects to seize this opportunity to gain recognition for their efforts. The application period runs from March 8th to June 7th (17.00 CET), with submission opening on May 7th. The selection process with the jury will take place during the summer of 2024, and winners will be announced at a special ceremony in the last quarter of 2024.

The two winners of the “Woman Greening Food Systems Award” will each receive a cash prize of €10,000, acknowledging their outstanding contributions to advancing sustainable food systems in the Mediterranean.

For more information on how to participate and submit your project, please visit the official PRIMA website here.
