The PLANBEE Project consortium successfully held its 2nd Steering Committee Meeting in Amman on 27 and 29 January 2026, bringing together all project partners for two intensive days of strategic coordination, planning, and decision-making.

The meeting marked a key milestone in the project’s implementation, with partners aligning on concrete next steps to translate PLANBEE’s vision into hands-on support for beekeepers, entrepreneurs, and the wider value chain of the Bee Economy across the Mediterranean.

A central outcome of the meeting was the launch of the design process for PLANBEE’s capacity-building programme, structured around four targeted training pathways, each tailored to the needs of distinct audiences:

  • New beekeepers, who will be introduced to the world of beekeeping through mixed-reality simulation tools, lowering entry barriers and attracting youth and women.
  • Advanced beekeepers, focusing on sustainable and resilient beekeeping practices, biodiversity protection, and quality enhancement.
  • Bee entrepreneurs, who will strengthen their entrepreneurial and business skills through interactive, practice-oriented learning methods.
  • HORECA professionals, engaging with honeybee-inspired regional gastronomy, highlighting local honey, floral identity, and authentic Mediterranean food experiences.

In parallel, partners began shaping the upcoming PLANBEE Open Call for Tailored Services, a flagship action of the project. Through this open call, selected bee entrepreneurs will receive free, customised professional support worth up to €5,000 per beneficiary, delivered by specialised consultants and mentors. The services will be adapted to each enterprise’s specific needs, supporting business growth, diversification, branding, innovation, and market access.

By combining advanced training, immersive learning tools, and bespoke advisory services, PLANBEE aims to empower bee entrepreneurs to scale sustainably while reinforcing rural economies, local identity, and environmental stewardship.

The outcomes of the Amman meeting reaffirm the consortium’s shared commitment to moving decisively from strategy to implementation, ensuring that PLANBEE delivers tangible, lasting impact for beekeeping communities across the Mediterranean.

“This Steering Committee marked a turning point for PLANBEE. We moved from strategic framing to concrete actions — shaping hands-on trainings and designing tailored services that directly respond to the real needs of beekeepers and bee entrepreneurs across the Mediterranean.”, Demetra Palaonda, PLANBEE Project Coordinator, Cyprus Chamber of Commerce & Industry.
