On 4 December, the MEDWISE project participated in the training and coordination event organised in Izmir (Türkiye) within the framework of the Interreg NEXT MED Programme. The event brought together Turkish institutions selected under the first call for proposals, marking an important step towards the effective implementation of funded projects.
The training provided practical guidance on key aspects of project delivery, including project governance, financial and administrative management, procurement procedures, communication and visibility requirements, as well as monitoring and reporting in line with Interreg standards. These sessions supported beneficiaries in translating project ideas into concrete actions with a strong focus on quality, transparency and results.
Beyond the technical programme, the event offered a valuable space for dialogue and cooperation, enabling participants to exchange experiences, identify synergies among projects, and explore opportunities for future collaboration across the Mediterranean basin.
Within this context, MEDWISE, with the active participation of the academic and project management staff of Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University, contributed to discussions and exchanges with other beneficiaries, reinforcing its role within the Interreg NEXT MED community.
MEDWISE addresses key Mediterranean challenges related to waste management, circular economy and environmental sustainability, promoting innovative and transferable solutions through applied research, pilot actions and cooperation among partners from different Mediterranean countries.
Participation in programme-level events such as the Izmir training is essential to ensure the effective implementation of project activities, strengthen institutional capacity and align project communication and results with Interreg NEXT MED objectives.
