Faced with the climate emergency, action starts here and now!
It is with pride and determination that we announce the official launch of the MedPROACT project and the creation of the Local Climate Change Adaptation Group (LoCA) into pilot areas Zarzis and Monastir.
The National Institute of Marine Sciences and Technologies (INSTM), leading actions within the project aimed at “Strengthening Adaptation Capacities”, brought together its Tunisian partners and various stakeholders in Zarzis on January 20, 2026, to kick off this crucial initiative.
The goal? To develop concrete, field-based solutions based on participatory approaches to strengthen the resilience of our Tunisian coastline to the effects of global warming.
The launch meeting, held at the Zarzis Vocational Training Center for Fisheries, provided an opportunity to present in detail the mission, objectives, and pilot intervention zones in Zarzis and Monastir, and to officially launch the LoCA network, a crucial working group for grounding actions in local realities. It also served as a valuable opportunity for constructive dialogue with all stakeholders in the region.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all stakeholders institutions, associations, experts, and local actors whose presence and commitment at this launch meeting are the cornerstone of the success of the MedPROACT project and the future LoCA network.
