The MedFireWise Project has been featured in the Greek newspaper Emakedonia, highlighting its innovative approach to wildfire prevention across the Mediterranean through Nature-Based Solutions.
In the article, titled “MedFireWise: Nature Becomes an Ally in Wildfire Prevention”, the journalist explores how the seven partners of the project are joining forces to address one of the region’s most pressing challenges: the increasing intensity and frequency of wildfires.
The coverage presents MedFireWise as a pioneering initiative that moves beyond conventional firefighting methods, focusing instead on working with nature. Practices such as prescribed burning and silvopasture are highlighted as effective, low-cost solutions that can reduce fuel loads, restore ecosystem balance, and strengthen landscape resilience.
