The MedFireWise project is recruiting two final-year interns (Master 2 or final year of engineering school) for applied research in the Aïn Snoussi region (Tunisia), across two complementary tracks:
Track 1: Vertical structure of forest fuels analysis
The intern will work on characterising Mediterranean forest vegetation using LiDAR data from NASA’s GEDI mission. Tasks include data preprocessing, extraction of key indicators (canopy height, vertical density, LAI, NDVI), GIS mapping and ecological analysis.
Track 2: Climate vulnerability analysis of the Aïn Snoussi forest & Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) proposals
The intern will carry out a combined landscape and climate investigation of the Aïn Snoussi forest: literature review, climate/ecological/spatial data processing, landscape diagnosis (topography, soils, vegetation, hydrology), vulnerability mapping and NBS-based recommendations.
