The International Center for Water, Environment and Energy Research at Al-Balqa Applied University conducted a specialized workshop titled “Rainwater Harvesting and Greywater Systems”, held on 23 December 2025 in Irbid, Jordan with the participation of 50 attendees from small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and organizations related to the water and environmental sectors.
The workshop aligns closely with the objectives of the SPEEDUP Project, funded by the European Union under the INTERREG NEXT MED Programme, which focuses on fostering innovation, promoting sustainable solutions, and supporting the competitiveness of SMEs in key sectors, including water. The event highlighted practical and scalable approaches to improving water efficiency and resource management in response to growing environmental and climate-related challenges.
During the workshop, participants were introduced to applied concepts of rainwater harvesting and greywater systems as innovative and sustainable solutions that can be adopted by SMEs and local stakeholders. The discussions emphasized practical implementation, efficiency, and sustainability, reflecting the shared vision between the workshop themes and the SPEEDUP Project’s mission.
The SPEEDUP Project team contributed to the workshop by presenting the project’s objectives and activities, highlighting its role in supporting innovation-driven development, strengthening links between academic expertise and market needs, and encouraging cross-sector collaboration in the water sector.
This workshop demonstrates the commitment of the SPEEDUP Project and Al-Balqa Applied University to empowering SMEs, advancing sustainable water solutions, and fostering partnerships that translate knowledge into real-world impact.
