This is a special moment for the HorizonCraft “Sailing towards Mediterranean expertise building” project consortium partners. After numerous meetings and online gatherings, they will finally have the opportunity to meet in person to take the first fundamental operational steps of this ambitious project together, during the Kick-Off Meeting held in Cagliari, Italy, on January 12th and 13th. There will be many many points to discuss and great enthusiasm in doing so among the participants.

The project, implemented under the priority “a more social Mediterranean” of the Interreg NEXT MED Programme, aims to foster connections between young jobseekers and small and medium-sized enterprises in the areas of southern Sardinia, Alexandria, and Lebanon. These three areas share the same youth employment crisis. The project’s partner organizations are TDM 2000 (Italy – lead partner), Confartigianto Imprese Sud Sardegna (Italy), Mediterranean Initiatives for Development and Leadership (Lebanon), Have a Dream (Egypt), Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Agriculture of Beirut and Mount Lebanon (Lebanon), and Confederation of Egyptian European Business Associations (Egypt).

The meeting agenda includes plenary sessions, working groups on individual aspects of the project, and a meeting with the local community and institutional representatives. There will also be opportunities for intercultural dialogue, consistent with the project’s philosophy, which sees the encounter between different Mediterranean regions as a driver of shared growth.
