The GREENOLIVE project is pleased to announce the release of its first newsletter, a bi-annual publication designed to keep stakeholders informed about project activities, technical developments, and milestones.

The inaugural edition offers readers an inside look at the innovative solar Power-to-Heat system being developed to decarbonise industrial process heat, outlines replication pathways and the project’s long-term vision, and provides highlights from activities since the project’s kick-off in September 2025.

Since launching, GREENOLIVE partners have been active across the Mediterranean region, presenting the project at conferences, engaging with students and researchers, and advancing technical work on thermal energy storage and system modelling.

Highlights from the newsletter include:

Kick-off meeting in Rome

In November 2025, partners gathered in Rome for the project’s inaugural in-person meeting, transitioning from proposal to concrete action plan through dynamic discussions. Partners participated to an interactive session coordinated by R2M Solution, where they mapped stakeholder groups according to their interest in project outcomes and influence on its success. The meeting concluded with a high-impact workshop on Power-to-X technologies organised by eCampus University, featuring experts from ENEA, RSE, and the University of Pisa alongside industry leaders from Confindustria, Snam, and NEXTCHEM.

SolarPACES 2025

In September 2025, CIEMAT represented the project at the 31st SolarPACES Conference in Almería, introducing GREENOLIVE to the international CSP and solar thermal community through a poster contribution.

Sustainability Symposium and HelioHelix Winter School

In February 2026, researchers from Çukurova University represented GREENOLIVE at the “Solar Thermal Technologies for Sustainable Turkey” symposium in Ankara, sharing project materials with policymakers and researchers. The same week, Associate Prof. Onur Taylan from ODTÜ-GÜNAM introduced the project during the EU SolarHub project’s HelioHelix Winter 2026 School, which focused on entrepreneurship for graduate students and researchers.

Expert meeting at Al-Quds University

In January 2026, Al-Quds University held a specialised expert meeting to discuss practical applications of GREENOLIVE outcomes, particularly solar energy systems and thermal energy storage technologies for heating and cooling.

World Future Energy Summit

GREENOLIVE participated to the World Future Energy Summit in Abu Dhabi, showcasing the project’s solar Power-to-Heat solution and monitoring recent developments in photovoltaic and inverter technologies.

BIM webinar and lab-scale replica

In December 2025, the Arab Academy (AASTMT) organised a webinar on Building Information Modelling (BIM) technologies in collaboration with CAD MASTERS, focusing on improving building energy performance and supporting renewable energy integration. At the same institution, the implementation of the lab-scale thermal energy storage (TES) setup is advancing through two parallel workstreams: procurement of equipment and system integration.
