The Managing Authority is pleased to announce that 112 project proposals have been admitted to step 2 “Strategic Evaluation” of the evaluation process carried out as part of the first call for proposals of the Interreg NEXT MED Programme. The results of the first step of the call evaluation were approved by the Monitoring Committee, the Programme’s decision-making body.

These projects involve 726 partner organizations from the 15 participating countries* and correspond to €224 million in EU financial contribution requested. A total of 10 youth-oriented projects were selected, a new feature introduced to boost the participation of young people in the Interreg NEXT MED Programme.

The proposals were assessed by two independent external experts and preselected based on their scores, aligning with a budget twice the amount awarded to the each of the 9 Specific Objectives addressed by the call.

The first call for proposals, which closed on 30 May 2024, received an extraordinary response, with a record 631 proposals submitted, totaling a value of €1.5 billion. This considerable interest underscores the relevance of Interreg NEXT MED in fostering cooperation to address shared challenges across the Mediterranean region.

Pre-selected projects have received an official notification from the Chairperson of the Assessment Board, requesting the submission of the supporting documents for the eligibility verification. The proposals will now undergo further evaluation by representatives of the participating countries.

Final results and the list of awarded projects will be announced starting from March 2025.
