On 11–12 February 2026, the HERACLES project officially started in Bari with its Kick-off Meeting. The event was organised by Aldo Moro Bari University and it marked the start of a new cooperation path across the Mediterranean.
HERACLES brings together partners from Italy, Greece, Spain, Lebanon and Tunisia. The project aims to strengthen research and innovation capacities. It does so by supporting cooperation between universities, research centres and enterprises. Its main focus is the development and uptake of AI-driven solutions in healthcare.
During the Kick-off Meeting, partners discussed the project’s objectives, main activities and timeline. They also opened the first exchange on the core steps of the project. These include stakeholder mapping, needs assessment, the creation of a digital knowledge exchange platform, awareness activities on AI in healthcare, pilot development, training and virtual incubation.
HERACLES starts from a clear idea: research, innovation and business need to work together more closely. By building a transnational research and business network, the project aims to connect knowledge with practical application. The launch event in Bari was therefore not only the formal start of the project, but also the first step in a broader Mediterranean cooperation journey.
