On 7 April 2026, Prof. Slim Tounsi, Director General of the Centre of Biotechnology of Sfax (CBS), partner in the EONANOBIOPS project, presented the project’s objectives and key achievements during a radio interview broadcast on Radio Sfax.
During the interview, he explained how EONANOBIOPS, funded under the Interreg NEXT MED Programme, is advancing sustainable agriculture through the development of innovative nano-biopesticides derived from essential oils. These solutions aim to reduce reliance on chemical pesticides while ensuring effective crop protection and minimizing environmental impact.
He also outlined the project’s vision of developing sustainable nano-biological alternatives based on essential oils, emphasizing its role in providing safe and eco-friendly solutions to replace conventional pesticides, particularly in tomato cultivation, thereby supporting sustainable agricultural production and protecting human health and the environment.
By sharing these insights through national media, the interview contributed to raising awareness about environmentally friendly agricultural practices and the role of scientific research in delivering practical and sustainable solutions for farmers.
This media appearance reflects CBS’s commitment, together with project partners, to fostering innovation and supporting the transition towards safer and more sustainable farming systems across the Mediterranean region.
