The EONANOBIOPS project held a workshop on 14 August 2025 at the Beit Dajan Municipality Hall, Palestine. The workshop aimed to promote sustainable and safe pest control practices in tomato production. The EONANOBIOPS project focuses on developing innovative and safe biopesticides based on essential oils and nanotechnology as alternatives to conventional chemical pesticides, contributing to improved human health, environmental protection, and sustainable agriculture.

Participants were welcomed by Mr. Rifaat Abu Hanesh, a member of the Beit Dajan Village Council, who highlighted the importance of adopting environmentally friendly agricultural practices to protect human health, soil, and water resources.

The workshop was officially opened by Prof. Mohammed Saleem Shtayeh, President of the Biodiversity and Environmental Research Center (BERC), who welcomed the attendees and presented an overview of the EONANOBIOPS project and its main objectives. Dr. Rana Jammous, a member of the project team, introduced BERC and outlined its role in supporting sustainable agriculture and environmental protection.

The programme included a technical lecture by agricultural engineer Imad Eid from the Ministry of Agriculture, who addressed the safe use of chemical pesticides and best agricultural practices. In addition, researcher Salam Abu Zaitoun facilitated an interactive discussion with farmers on the most common pests and diseases affecting greenhouse tomato production, with particular focus on Tuta absoluta. The session also presented integrated pest management approaches and innovative essential oil-based nanobiopesticides currently being developed within the EONANOBIOPS project.

The workshop witnessed strong attendance and active participation from the staff of the Nablus Directorate of Agriculture, led by agricultural engineer Fawzi Abu Jish, who coordinated the organization of the event with the project team. This collaboration contributed significantly to the success of the workshop and the achievement of its objectives.
