As part of strengthened scientific cooperation between the Biodiversity and Environmental Research Center (BERC) and Al-Quds Open University, a workshop was organized to highlight the importance of protecting threatened native plant species and to explore innovative biological solutions for environmental conservation.
The workshop featured a presentation on the EONANOBIOPS project, co-funded by the European Union under the Interreg NEXT MED Programme. Professor Mohammed Saleem Shtayeh, Project Coordinator and President of BERC (Lead Partner), presented the project’s objectives and emphasized the role of essential-oil-based nanobiopesticides as a sustainable alternative to conventional pesticides.
The event contributed to raising awareness of the EONANOBIOPS project, strengthening academic cooperation, and promoting innovation toward greener and more sustainable agriculture across the Mediterranean region, where Al-Quds Open University participates in the project as an associate partner.
Participants from official institutions, academia, and the student community engaged in discussions supported by informative project posters displayed in both Arabic and English. Dr. Rana Jamous, Project Manager, provided an overview of the project’s research approach and expected outcomes, fostering constructive scientific exchange.
