CReSInMed – Competitiveness and Internationalisation of Rural Tourism SMEs in the Mediterranean – has officially started, aiming to help rural tourism businesses grow, innovate and reach international markets.
Across the Mediterranean, rural tourism enterprises often face structural constraints, including limited access to training, markets, digital tools and international networks. Geographic isolation, skills gaps and insufficient digitalisation hinder their capacity to grow, innovate and compete beyond local markets. CReSInMed responds to these challenges by strengthening skills, fostering transnational cooperation and providing concrete tools for internationalisation.
The project will support 50 rural tourism (M)SMEs through tailored training programmes, capacity-building actions and the activation of a Mediterranean Task Force of experts. Key activities include business re-engineering and internationalisation plans, study visits, participation in international tourism fairs, and the creation of local and transnational tourism clusters. A core innovation of CReSInMed is the development of a digital toolbox and an online collaborative platform, designed to enhance visibility, facilitate networking, and support (M)SMEs in managing bookings, services and international partnerships.
Implemented in Italy, Greece, Spain, Türkiye, Jordan, Tunisia and Palestine, CReSInMed brings together public institutions, chambers of commerce, development agencies and private organisations, creating a strong cooperation framework between the northern and southern shores of the Mediterranean. Over the next three years, CReSInMed aims to transform rural tourism into a more resilient, innovative and inclusive driver of local development, contributing to sustainable growth and stronger economic links across the Mediterranean region.
