The CAREMED – Community-based Approach for Resilient Mediterranean Health Project continues to make steady progress with the successful completion of its 3rd Local Thematic Committee (LTC) Meeting, held on 31 March 2026 in Izmir, Türkiye and organised by the project partner Izmir Provincial Directorate of Health.

Co-funded by the European Union under the Interreg NEXT MED programme, CAREMED is advancing its efforts to strengthen primary healthcare systems across the Mediterranean region, with a focus on improving the management of chronic and non-communicable diseases.

During the meeting, partners carried out an in-depth analysis of the current situation concerning the three key chronic diseases at the core of the project. Building on international experience sharing, discussions focused on defining national care pathways and assessing existing approaches to chronic disease management, supported by detailed technical insights.

The meeting also provided an opportunity to align on operational aspects. With the active participation of technical teams, key milestones for the project’s work packages were confirmed, and the work plan for the upcoming period was further refined.

This meeting marks another important step in CAREMED’s implementation phase, reinforcing coordination among partners and ensuring a structured and forward-looking approach to upcoming activities.
