As host of the international DIGIWAVE co-design workshop in Amman, Al-Balqa Applied University brought local expertise into the process to help connect the future training programme with real labour market needs.
Among the contributors was Jordanian expert Saif Atout, whose practical insights helped connect the workshop discussions with local realities and labour market needs. His participation reflects BAU’s commitment to ensuring that the programme is informed not only by international cooperation, but also by the experience and knowledge of professionals working directly in the field.
The workshop provided an opportunity to examine how the future training programme can better respond to the challenges women face when trying to access opportunities in the digital economy. In this context, contributions from local experts were especially valuable in identifying skills needs, market expectations and practical considerations that can make training more relevant and applicable in real professional settings.
Reflecting on the experience, Atout highlighted the value of the collaborative environment created during the workshop, where different perspectives could come together around a shared objective. As he noted, “bringing different perspectives together makes it possible to create practical and inclusive opportunities for women in the digital economy.”
His contribution forms part of BAU’s broader effort to integrate Jordanian expertise and entrepreneurial perspectives into the development of the training programme. This helps reinforce the relevance of the programme for the women it is intended to support, while also strengthening the connection between project activities and the skills and opportunities required in today’s digital economy.
By bringing local knowledge into a transnational process, BAU helps ensure that DIGIWAVE’s training model is not developed in abstract terms, but built on practical experience and a clearer understanding of the contexts in which women will use these new skills. In this way, DIGIWAVE continues to build a training model that is collaborative, responsive and better equipped to support women’s inclusion in the digital economy.
DIGIWAVE is led by Jovesólides in Spain, in partnership with ActionAid Hellas in Greece, the Center of Arab Women for Training and Research CAWTAR in Tunisia, and Al-Balqa Applied University in Jordan.
