On 22 April 2026, the SHAREN project was presented in Brussels during the 17th BUILD UP Skills EU Exchange Meeting, the annual event that brings together European projects linked to the BUILD UP Skills initiative. This initiative launched in 2011 by the European Union,ย is designed to strengthen the skills and qualifications of professionals in the construction and building renovation sector across Europe.
The Valencia Institute of Building (IVE), represented by Raquel Llorca and Pepa Esparza, presented the SHAREN project during one of the workshops focused on funding for training. The session highlighted how programmes such as Interreg support training, territorial cooperation and capacity-building initiatives across Europe.
In particular, the presentation showcased how, through the SHAREN Academy and the Twinning Programme, the project will provide training, mentoring and peer-learning opportunities. These tools will help municipalities, professionals and organisations understand, adapt and replicate the SHAREN approach in their own local contexts. The session also featured the participation of Andrea Moro, from IISBE Italia, who brings extensive experience in the implementation of Interreg projects and offered additional insights into the SuPeRBE project, further enriching the discussion on innovative approaches to skills development and sustainable construction across Europe.
This collaborative approach is closely aligned with BUSUnited, a European initiative that connects professionals, organisations and public authorities to accelerate the development of skills for a climate-neutral construction sector. At its core are the Communities of Practice (CoPs) โ active working groups where stakeholders exchange knowledge, share experiences and co-create practical solutions on key topics such as skills needs, recognition, funding mechanisms and EU-level cooperation.
๐ Building on this momentum, professionals and organisations are invited to join these BUSUnited CoPs and take part in shaping the future of skills in construction by filling in this form.
