MEDWISE was at ECOMED 2026 – Mediterraneo Green Expo, held from 22 to 24 April 2026 at SiciliaFiera in Misterbianco (Catania, Italy), taking part in one of the leading events in Southern Italy dedicated to sustainability, circular economy and environmental innovation.

Among the key topics of this year’s edition was “Recycle, recovery, circular valorization”, with discussions focused on the sustainable closure of the waste cycle, new opportunities for industrial symbiosis, and innovative directions for composting and anaerobic digestion systems. These are exactly the kinds of challenges and opportunities that MEDWISE aims to address through its activities in the Mediterranean area.

During the event, UNICT and ENEA promoted the project through communication and dissemination activities, engaging with a wide range of stakeholders, including public authorities, private organisations, researchers, practitioners and citizens. ECOMED offered the perfect space to increase the visibility of MEDWISE, share its goals and expected impacts, and bring the project closer to the actors who can help make its solutions concrete and impactful.

The dialogue started at ECOMED marks an important first step towards the active involvement of stakeholders in MEDWISE. Public and private organisations can support mapping activities, join the industrial symbiosis platform, and contribute to the implementation of MEDWISE solutions. More than a dissemination opportunity, the event helped create momentum around the project and laid the foundations for a growing network committed to circular and sustainable organic waste management.
