On 16 April, a Living Lab dedicated to circular innovation in post-consumer textiles (Atelier de Cocréation – Living Lab de Circularité des Textiles Usagés was successfully held in Tunisia within the framework of the Waste2Fashion Project. The event was led by MedWaves, the UNEP/MAP Regional Activity Center for SCP (Lead Partner) and the Fédération Tunisienne du Textile et de l’Habillement (Partner in Tunisia), in collaboration with the Centre International des Technologies de l’Environnement de Tunis (CITET).

Designed as a Living Lab, the workshop created a dynamic space for collective experimentation and dialogue. It brought together key stakeholders from across the textile value chain—including industry representatives, public institutions, and technical experts—to jointly explore the challenges and opportunities linked to post-consumer textile management in Tunisia.
Throughout the day, participants engaged in interactive discussions and co-creation sessions aimed at identifying practical solutions to improve the collection, sorting, reuse, and recycling of used textiles and clothing. By combining diverse perspectives and expertise, the workshop fostered a shared understanding of current bottlenecks and helped outline concrete pathways toward more efficient and sustainable systems.
This initiative is fully aligned with the broader objectives of the Waste2Fashion project, which seeks to accelerate the transition of the textile sector towards circularity by promoting innovation, collaboration, and responsible practices across the Mediterranean region. The Living Lab approach, in particular, plays a key role in ensuring that solutions are not only technically sound but also locally relevant and scalable.
Beyond the technical outcomes, the event also highlighted the importance of multi-stakeholder collaboration as a driver for systemic change. By creating an open and participatory environment, the workshop enabled meaningful exchanges and strengthened connections among actors committed to advancing circular economy solutions in the textile sector.
A special thank you goes to all participants and organisers for their active engagement and valuable contributions, and in particular to the Pôle de Compétitivité de Monastir EL Fejja for their warm welcome and excellent hosting of this inspiring co-creation space.
