A research technician from the AUB visited the IDIBAPS to receive specialised training in CAR T cell production for MILenARI project.
As part of the MILenARI project, a research technician from the American University of Beirut (AUB), Ms Nabeela Kreidieh, visited the laboratories of Dr. Manel Juan at IDIBAPS (Barcelona) to receive specialised training in CAR‑T cell production.
The main objective of the stay was to gain hands‑on knowledge of the T‑cell transduction procedure using the Prodigy platform, as well as the associated quality control tests. During the visit, IDIBAPS shared standard operating procedures (SOPs) that will be translated and implemented at AUB, supporting the establishment of local CAR‑T manufacturing capabilities.
The technician highlighted the collaborative atmosphere during the stay, noting that IDIBAPS personnel were “very cooperative in answering all questions,” facilitating effective knowledge transfer.
This training represents an important step for AUB in strengthening local technical capacity and expanding future therapeutic options for patients in Lebanon. Inter‑institutional cooperation within MILenARI is highly appreciated and vital, ensuring that advanced therapies such as CAR‑T can reach patients across the region through shared expertise and collaboration.
