Interreg NEXT MED’s SMAC Project will take center stage next June at MediTour Agadir 2026, a Mediterranean leading forum for tourism cooperation and innovation. Presenting SMAC in this high‑level setting marks a key milestone for the project, offering unparalleled visibility among policymakers, regional authorities, and tourism stakeholders from across the Euro‑Mediterranean region. As MediTour continues to shape the future of sustainable and competitive tourism, the inclusion of SMAC highlights its strategic importance and its potential to contribute to a more resilient, innovative, and interconnected Mediterranean tourism ecosystem.

The upcoming edition, to be held from 18 to 20 June in Agadir (Morocco), will be hosted by the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services (CCIS) of Agadir – Souss Massa, in partnership with ASCAME, one of the strategic key partners of the SMAC Project. Held under the theme ‘Investment, Attractiveness and Smart Tourism Towards 2030 – Sustainable and Innovative Mediterranean Destinations’, this edition aims to strengthen Mediterranean tourism cooperation and accelerate the sustainable transformation of destinations.

These are the key highlights of MediTour Agadir 2026:

A threeday program shaping the future of Mediterranean tourism

Each day of the event will be dedicated to a specific theme. Day one will focus on “Openness, Strategic Vision, and Governance in Mediterranean Tourism”.Following the opening session, the presentation of the forum’s objectives, and the signing of partnership agreements, experts will take part in a series of panels addressing key issues such as the future of Mediterranean tourism, investment and destination attractiveness, and the role of major international events in transforming territories. The day will conclude with a networking session.

The second day will center on “Cooperation, Innovation, and Investments”. Sector‑specific panels and roundtables will bring together specialists to discuss topics including the blue economy and tourism, cooperation and partnerships, mobility, cruises and connectivity, as well as innovation, resilience, and the sustainable transition of destinations. The day will close with a final ceremony summarizing the discussions and presenting recommendations.

Day Three, titled “MediTour Experience Agadir”, will highlight innovation and exemplary territorial practices through three thematic experiences:

  • Coastal zones and sustainable beach tourism: a guided tour of Agadir’s beaches, showcasing tourism projects, entertainment initiatives, and recreational activities.
  • Cultural heritage and regional development: an exploration of key historical and cultural sites in the Souss Massa region (e.g., the Medina of Tiznit, Igoudars), emphasizing conservation and development efforts.
  • Ecotourism and integrated nature projects. For example, a visit to the PNSM to illustrate how ecotourism is being integrated into regional development strategies.

Thanks to the leadership of the Agadir -Souss Massa Chamber of Commerce, a strategic member of ASCAME, the 2026 edition is set to become a pivotal moment for launching new initiatives, strengthening regional synergies, and shaping a shared vision for the future of Mediterranean tourism. This edition underscores the capacity of Mediterranean regions to collaborate effectively in promoting a tourism model that is both sustainable and globally competitive.
