Growing water scarcity and environmental pressures have made water a strategic resource worldwide. In this context, sustainable water management has become a key area for innovation, offering new opportunities for eco-entrepreneurs.
These actors play a crucial role in developing solutions that improve water management, reuse, and preservation.
In Tunisia, Hammamet Valley Hub (HVH) actively promotes green entrepreneurship. As part of this commitment, the “Demo Day Water” event was organized to showcase innovative projects in the water sector.
The initiatives presented addressed several key areas, including water purification, rainwater harvesting and valorization, as well as greywater recycling and optimization.
This initiative is fully aligned with the objectives of the MERAVIGLIA project, co-funded by the Interreg NEXT MED programme of the European Union. The project aims to promote microenterprises and self-employment as effective responses to employment challenges and ecological transitions.
By supporting local initiatives, MERAVIGLIA contributes to strengthening sustainable innovation and encouraging solutions adapted to local contexts.
Among the projects presented, Aqua Cycle, developed by Nizar Jabbar, an entrepreneur from Hammamet, stood out for its innovative approach to greywater recovery, treatment, and reuse.
Primarily designed for tourism establishments such as hotels and guesthouses, this solution addresses the high water consumption typical of the sector.
Aqua Cycle helps significantly reduce potable water consumption while optimizing operational costs for tourism facilities. It also enhances their environmental performance, in line with increasing sustainability requirements.
Currently, Aqua Cycle is seeking funding and partnerships to support its development and enable large-scale deployment.
This step is essential to maximize both its environmental and economic impact.
Aqua Cycle demonstrates how local innovation can address global challenges. By highlighting such initiatives, MERAVIGLIA reaffirms its role in supporting sustainable and inclusive entrepreneurship.
