On 18 March, CIHEAM Bari, EPLO, and the Metropolitan City of Rome Capital held the fourth FOODGaP webinar, bringing together voices from municipal governance, international organizations, academia, and civil society to examine food systems through the lens of justice, inclusion, and resilience. Speakers addressed urban food governance and rights-based support systems, gender equality as a structural dimension of food security, the role of aquatic food systems amid climate and environmental pressures, place-based approaches to food resilience in fragile contexts, and the link between food insecurity and broader social exclusion. Across all contributions, a common thread emerged: achieving equitable food systems requires not only sustainable policies, but genuine representation of marginalized actors, cross-institutional cooperation, and a commitment to treating food as a fundamental right.
