Representatives from the Beta Technological Centre at UVIC-UCC, partners of the MEDWISE project, travelled to Madrid on 25 February to attend a training session for Spanish partners and controllers involved in projects funded under the Interreg NEXT MED Programme. The event took place at the headquarters of the Ministry of Finance and focused mainly on the financial management of Interreg NEXT MED projects.
The training aimed to support project beneficiaries and controllers in ensuring sound financial management in line with programme requirements, while also addressing the most common mistakes identified in project implementation. The session provided guidance on cost eligibility, financial reporting, and the procedures for introducing project amendments. Additionally, representatives from the Spanish Ministry detailed the processes for carrying out first- and second-level verifications of declared expenses. During the training, recommendations were also given concerning the use of the JeMS platform. Final remarks on the importance of Interreg NEXT MED project communication strategies closed the event.
Beyond its technical content, the event offered an opportunity for exchange among Spanish beneficiaries and controllers, fostering dialogue on shared challenges and good practices in project management. It also provided a valuable space to raise questions and clarify doubts directly with Programme representatives and the National Authority.
Through its participation, the Beta Technological Centre at UVIC-UCC and the MEDWISE project reinforce their commitment to sound financial governance and effective project implementation within the framework of the Interreg NEXT MED Programme.
