The American University of Beirut (AUB), a regional leader in clinical haematology and stem cell transplantation, joins MILenARI as a key partner driving the decentralisation of CAR‑T production across Mediterranean Partner Countries. AUB co‑leads the work package dedicated to the establishment, certification, and validation of CAR‑T manufacturing facilities.

Relying on its JACIE‑accredited Bone Marrow Transplant Unit and its highly trained medical engineering and laboratory teams, AUB will receive lentiviral vectors produced in Spain and implement fully workflows for ARI‑0001 production. The institution will adapt standard operating procedures, complete environmental certification, and produce three research‑grade CAR‑T batches as part of its validation phase.

AUB professionals will undergo extensive training delivered by Clínic-IDIBAPS experts, both on‑site and through virtual sessions. Additionally, AUB will contribute to regulatory documentation, feasibility assessments, and cost‑effectiveness analyses in preparation for future clinical trials in Lebanon.

By building the country’s first academic CAR‑T platform, AUB will significantly strengthen local capacity for advanced therapies, paving the way for improved access to innovative cancer treatments in Lebanon and neighbouring regions.
