The GREENOLIVE project has moved from the page to the people by recently holding its inaugural in-person meeting in Rome, Italy on November 19 and 20. By bringing together all project partners for dynamic discussions, the face-to-face gathering has been essential for transforming the project’s proposal into a concrete action plan.

Over two intensive days, the team:

  • strengthened the partnership: the gathering fostered a strong sense of shared purpose and collaboration among research, industrial, and technical partners from across the Mediterranean region.
  • refined technical and operational plans: through dedicated workshops, partners detailed the solar field design, thermal energy storage integration, materials testing protocols, and the comprehensive data monitoring framework.
  • established strategic communication foundations: the consortium aligned on core messaging and dissemination strategies to effectively share the GREENOLIVE story and maximize the project’s influence.

“It was incredibly energising to finally have the entire team together in one room,” said prof. Halime Paksoy of Çukurova University. “This direct collaboration is vital as we transition from planning to the practical execution of our demonstration plant.”

The kick-off meeting has injected significant momentum into GREENOLIVE. With partnerships strengthened and technical pathways aligned, the consortium is now fully mobilized to commence the project’s practical implementation.

The event was followed by a workshop on Power-to-X technologies for the decarbonisation of the industrial sector in the Mediterranean area. Further information on this topic is available at this link ↗.
