Innovation for Mediterranean Cities: Summary of the SMARTMED Smart Information Day in Jordan

On 29 December 2025, the SMARTMED Information Day was successfully held at Rueeha Hall in the Municipality of DeirAlla, bringing together representatives from local authorities, project partners, community members, and key stakeholders in digital transformation and sustainable urban development. Organised under the Interreg NEXT MED Programme, the event provided an important platform to present the project’s vision and its role in supporting smarter and more sustainable medium-sized cities. Through presentations, updates on digital platforms for smart waste management and eHealth services, and interactive exchanges, participants contributed valuable insights to address real urban challenges and strengthen future implementation in DeirAlla and the wider region.

On 29 December 2025, the SMARTMED Information Day was successfully organised at Rueeha Hall, in the Municipality of DeirAlla. The event gathered representatives from the local community, local authorities, project partner organisations, and key stakeholders involved in digital transformation and sustainable urban development.

Held within the framework of the Interreg NEXT MED Programme, the Information Day featured presentations and constructive discussions centred on the project’s vision and its contribution to the development of smarter and more sustainable medium-sized cities.

The programme included:

  • An overview of the objectives and overall framework of the SMARTMED project

  • Updates on the digital platforms currently under development to enhance smart waste management and eHealth services

  • An exchange of knowledge, experiences, and partner input addressing real urban and operational challenges

The active participation of representatives from governmental institutions, municipalities, and local communities enriched the discussions through interactive sessions, offering practical perspectives and valuable guidance for the project’s future implementation in Derala and the wider region.

The event highlighted a shared commitment to building more efficient and sustainable urban systems, improving public services through digital solutions, and enhancing quality of life and health outcomes in medium-sized cities.
