The PROTECHMED project, co-financed under the European Interreg NEXT MED Programme, begins its journey towards increasingly efficient, sustainable, and innovative Greenhouse agriculture, and today it opens its doors to horticultural stakeholders to jointly build a Catalogue of Mediterranean Best practices.
This initiative was created with the aim of collecting, enhancing, and disseminating the most virtuous and innovative experiences in the field of Protected horticulture, with a particular focus on the sustainable use of water and energy resources.
>💡 WHO CAN PARTICIPATE
Farmers, entrepreneurs, experts representing research institutions, startups, cooperatives: anyone operating in the Protected crops and innovative agriculture sector who wishes to share their concrete experience can submit their application.
We are looking for successful practices that have brought tangible results in sectors such as:
● Water efficiency, for example through smart irrigation systems,
● Integrated pest defence inside greenhouses,
● Energy sustainability, such as the integration of photovoltaic systems and agrivoltaic solutions,
● Digitalization and smart technologies for more efficient crop management.

Participating in the PROTECHMED project and sharing your concrete experience offers significant benefits:
● International Visibility: the Catalogue will serve as a showcase to promote your Company, placing it within an international network of innovators and professionals;
● Shared Knowledge platform: the selected practices will contribute to an open knowledge platform, intended to inspire and support the adoption of solutions already successfully tested by other operators;
● Access to the “Inception Camp“: the opportunity to actively participate in the demonstrative visit (“Inception Camp“) which will be held in Sicily in April 2026. The event includes targeted visits to innovative companies in the area and technical discussion sessions with the project partners.
