The first Local Thematic Committees (LTCs) Meeting of the CAREMED Project – Community-Based Approach for a Resilient Mediterranean, co-financed by the European Union under the Interreg NEXT MED Programme, was successfully held in Turkey on 14 January 2026 via an online platform.
The meeting was organised by the İzmir Provincial Health Directorate, which played a key role in bringing together relevant local stakeholders. This event marked an important milestone in the early phase of the project, providing a valuable platform for discussion, coordination, and stakeholder engagement.
Aligned with the project’s vision of strengthening cross-border healthcare for individuals living with chronic conditions across the Mediterranean region, the meeting focused on priority themes such as improving access to healthcare services and advancing digitalisation. Participants reviewed and assessed the activities planned for implementation at the local level, ensuring consistency with the overall objectives of the CAREMED Project.
Thanks to the valuable contributions of all stakeholders involved, the meeting enabled a comprehensive review of the preparatory work completed to date and fostered a shared understanding of the next steps. This collaborative approach lays a solid foundation for the effective and timely implementation of CAREMED activities in Turkey.
