Innovating for a Smarter MED Region: Recap of the SMARTMED Info Day in Greece

On 12 November 2025, the SMARTMED Information Day was successfully held at the JOIST Innovation Park, bringing together key stakeholders dedicated to advancing smart waste management and e-health solutions across the Mediterranean. Organised within the framework of the Interreg NEXT MED Programme, the event featured insightful presentations and discussions on the project’s objectives, as well as the innovative digital platforms currently under development to optimise waste management and enhance e-health services. Contributions from the URBACT SMALL project and the Municipality of Larissa provided valuable perspectives on real urban and operational challenges, while the active participation of business and industry representatives further enriched the dialogue. The event highlighted a shared commitment to building more sustainable, efficient, and health-oriented services for medium-sized cities across the Mediterranean region.

The SMARTMED Info Day, held on November 12, 2025 at the JOIST Innovation Park, successfully brought together key stakeholders committed to advancing smart waste management and e-health solutions across the Mediterranean.

We were also honored by the active participation of the STHEV Association of Thessalian Enterprises and Industries, whose engagement in the Q&A and panel discussions added an essential business and industry perspective to the deployment of smart waste and e-health solutions.
The strong discussions throughout the day underscored our shared commitment to sustainable, efficient, and health-focused innovation in MED cities.
