On December 16, STORM – Integrating Seasonal Thermal Energy Storage in the Mediterranean Region took part in the 3rd edition of the MED Talks, promoted by the Interreg Euro-MED Programme and the Union for the Mediterranean (UFM).

The event featured the participation of the Interreg NEXT MED Programme, with STORM contributing alongside the Programme as one of its funded projects. Discussions focused on advancing sustainable solutions for greener and more resilient living areas in the Mediterranean.

During the session, STORM highlighted how Seasonal Thermal Energy Storage (STES) can support the energy transition by reducing reliance on fossil-based heating and cooling and strengthening the integration of renewable energy solutions in buildings.

The presentation also showcased how STORM’s Mediterranean-wide energy zonation mapping, its energy storage digital platform and design toolkit, and its work on policy and strategic planning to integrate STES into energy frameworks are in full synergy with the Green Living Areas Mission of the Interreg Euro-Med Programme.

STORM’s participation in the MED Talks underlined the value of cross-programme cooperation and knowledge exchange in advancing shared Mediterranean sustainability goals.
