The YOUthCARE4planet project has taken a major step forward with its first Steering Committee meeting, held online on Thursday, 4 December 2025, bringing together partners from Tunisia, Italy, Egypt, and Greece. This milestone sets the stage for youth-led environmental action across the Mediterranean. During the meeting, partners aligned on a shared roadmap to empower young people and NGOs to co-create green initiatives, implement sustainable solutions, and strengthen community resilience.

Turning youth energy into real impact

YouthCARE4Planet goes beyond meetings and theoretical plans—it focuses on making a real difference on the ground. Through green labs and participatory projects, youth and NGOs will:

  • Design and implement local environmental initiatives that improve communities
  • Gain hands-on skills in ecological project management and civic engagement
  • Map and share best practices, enabling successful initiatives to be replicated across countries

A participatory and inclusive approach

The project ensures that every action is driven by the community, with 40 collaborative sessions connecting young people, mentors, and experts. YouthCARE4Planet doesn’t just plan projects—it creates solutions that empower youth and bring measurable change to local communities.

Strengthening NGOs and transparency

In addition to youth engagement, the project supports 60 local NGOs in enhancing their financial and administrative capacities, ensuring that resources are used effectively and initiatives deliver real-world results.

Why it matters
Across the Mediterranean, young people face ecological challenges but often lack opportunities to act. YouthCARE4Planet addresses this gap by providing tools, mentorship, and a platform for youth-led environmental solutions. The project is a catalyst for sustainable change, fostering greener, more resilient communities across Tunisia, Italy, Egypt, and Greece.

With the Steering Committee complete, the project will soon launch:

  • Green labs and workshops for hands-on experience
  • Training sessions and mentoring to strengthen youth leadership
  • Collaborative mapping of youth-led initiatives to share knowledge and scale successful projects
