On September 12, SHARE4MED took part in the eighth edition of the (Tunisia), one of the leading international events dedicated to the future of the Mediterranean. The 2025 edition, titled “From Nice to Bizerte: How Is the Mediterranean Doing?”, explored the outcomes of the and the ongoing in Geneva, addressing critical challenges including marine governance, blue economy development, illegal fishing, pollution, and climate-related pressures.
Within this high-level context, SHARE4MED contributed to the discussion by presenting its strategic approach to strengthening institutional capacity across Mediterranean municipalities. Co-funded by Interreg NEXT MED, the project supports local authorities in planning and managing environmental sustainability initiatives aligned with the EU Mission Restore our Oceans and Waters by 2030.
SHARE4MED showcased its key objectives and forthcoming actions, which include the development of a Shared Transition Agenda to harmonize local priorities across the basin, a digital Governance Dashboard to monitor the performance and impact of local environmental policies, and a pilot intervention aimed at restoring degraded coastal habitats. These tools will help municipalities enhance evidence-based decision-making, promote cross-border cooperation, and engage communities in the protection and regeneration of marine and coastal ecosystems.
Participation in the Forum Mondial de la Mer provided SHARE4MED with an important opportunity to connect with regional stakeholders, contribute to ongoing debates on Mediterranean resilience, and reinforce the project’s mission to support an integrated and collaborative approach to sustainable coastal governance.
