SUMMARY:CERES Hosts Side Event at S-Access 2026 to Showcase Campus-Based Solutions for Zero-Emission Transitions
DESCRIPTION:On Wednesday\, 8 April 2026\, from 9 to 11:30 h\, the CERES project (Centers of Excellence for Resilient Entrepreneurship and Sustainable Solutions) will organise Side Event 1 within the framework of S-Access 2026\, hosted by the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB). \nCERES is co-financed by the European Union through the Interreg NEXT MED Programme and supports the development of innovation ecosystems and resilient entrepreneurship by promoting cooperation\, capacity building and the uptake of sustainable solutions across the Mediterranean region. \nThe Side Event\, entitled “Spotlight on Campus Zero Emissions – Knowledge Transfer for Energy and Digital Transition”\, is designed as a technical and experiential activity that combines expert presentations with a guided visit to real-life demonstration facilities on the UIB campus. \nParticipants will be introduced to the Campus Zero Emissions initiative\, a comprehensive approach to energy transition that integrates renewable energy generation\, energy efficiency\, energy storage\, sustainable mobility and digital management of energy systems. The visit will showcase concrete solutions such as photovoltaic and solar thermal installations\, district heating and cooling systems\, large-scale battery storage\, smart charging infrastructure and vehicle-to-grid applications. \nThe event will demonstrate how university campuses can act as living laboratories and Centers of Excellence\, enabling experimentation\, validation and transfer of innovative solutions to businesses\, public authorities and other territories. This approach is fully aligned with the objectives of the CERES project\, which seeks to accelerate sustainable and resilient development through knowledge transfer and cooperation. \nThe Side Event is open to participants registered for S-Access 2026\, with places reserved during the conference registration process. \nMore information \n\n\nRegistration via the official S-Access 2026 platform.

SUMMARY:JADEITE hosts Transnational Workshop on Participatory Governance and Just Green Transition
DESCRIPTION:On February 17\, from 10:00 to 13:00\, the JADEITE project will host an online workshop dedicated to participatory governance and the promotion of a Just and Green Transition across the Mediterranean area. \nThe event is part of Work Package 3 – “Participatory governance: transnational learning and tool consolidation”\, and specifically relates to Activity 3.1.3\, a key milestone aimed at comparing and reflecting on the diverse territorial realities represented within the partnership. \nThis workshop builds on the outcomes of the Co-creation Workshop held in Pisa on December 10\, where partners shared initial reflections on how to analyse participatory processes. Those contributions enabled JOHUD\, as WP3 coordinator\, to finalise a structured and robust methodology for the situational analysis\, with a specific focus on the role of participatory tools in ensuring that the green transition truly leaves no one behind. \nWorkshop Objectives \nThe online session is designed as a space for transnational exchange and collective validation. In particular\, the workshop aims to: \n\nValidate the methodology: present the finalised approach for the situational analysis and share the first set of preliminary results from partner territories.\nAssess participatory tools: discuss the current use of offline participatory instruments across regions and collect inputs to enhance their effectiveness.\nDefine the “Just Transition”: consolidate partners’ perspectives on the core elements of a green transition that is socially fair and inclusive\, with particular attention to vulnerable groups.\n\nThe workshop represents an important step in aligning approaches\, strengthening shared understanding and advancing participatory governance practices within the JADEITE project

SUMMARY:Join the MEDAIGENCY AI4PURPOSE Hackathons: Unlock AI’s Potential for a Stronger Mediterranean Against Crises
DESCRIPTION:AI is taking over\, and so are you! \nHealth systems across the Mediterranean continue to face challenges when responding to crises\, from natural hazards to public health emergencies. More often than not\, these systems are not adequately prepared for these emergencies. unstable infrastructure\, delays in coordination and lack of timely information often put communities at risk. \nTo help address these gaps\, MEDAIGENCY\, co-funded by the EU under the Interreg NEXT MED Programme\, is a transnational initiative implemented in Lebanon\, Palestine\, Türkiye\, Italy\, and Spain\, and is working to develop and adapt AI solutions that reinforce health system resilience during emergencies. \nWhat is the AI4PURPOSE Transnational Hackathon? \nAs part of MEDAIGENCY’s needs-assessment and technology-matchmaking activities\, each partner country is hosting a local hackathon to identify promising ideas that can be adapted and scaled across the region. The hackathons are organized by project partners in Lebanon\, Italy\, Palestine and Türkiye\, bringing together students and technology providers to explore how AI can help health systems better prepare for\, respond to\, and recover from crises. \nAI4Purpose Hackathon is an opportunity to: \n\nDevelop transnational AI interventions tailored to real emergency system needs.\nCollaborate with stakeholders across 5 partner countries.\nCompete for an opportunity to co-develop one of MEDAIGENCY’s AI-powered solutions.\n\nRegister now on the links below: \nAI4PURPOSE – Lebanon: https://forms.gle/rbd7VaQFGPghFmZz6. SUMMARY:SALAM Launch Event: Building Healthcare Access Across the Mediterranean
DESCRIPTION:On 29 January 2026\, the SALAM project officially starts in Bari\, at the Asclepios III pavilion of the Polyclinic of Bari: a place where care\, research and daily medical practice meet. \nThe Kick-off Meeting brings together partners from Italy\, Spain\, Lebanon and Jordan to begin a shared journey built around a simple belief: healthcare should be closer\, fairer and more human — wherever people live. For the first time\, doctors\, researchers\, universities and civil society organisations will sit at the same table to turn cooperation into action. \nDuring the meeting\, partners will share the vision behind SALAM and begin shaping the work ahead: from the creation of hospital hubs in Beirut and Irbid\, to telecardiology services and mobile medical units designed to reach communities that too often remain distant from care. The discussion will explore how training\, digital tools and research can support healthcare that is not only effective\, but also accessible\, human and rooted in the needs of people and families. \nThe day will mark the beginning of a collaboration built on trust\, shared responsibility and the belief that cooperation across the Mediterranean can help reduce the distance between people and healthcare. \nIn Arabic\, “Salam” means peace.\nAnd in this project\, peace begins with health.

SUMMARY:MedFireWise in Tunisia hosts a regional workshop focusing on silvopastoralism
DESCRIPTION:The MedFireWise Project is pleased to announce a regional workshop organized by our Tunisian partner\, INRGREF (National Research Institute for Rural Engineering\, Water and Forestry). This event will focus on the integration of Nature-Based Solutions (NbS) into wildfire risk management\, with a special emphasis on silvopastoral practices. \nAs wildfires become an increasingly urgent challenge across the Mediterranean due to climate change\, land-use pressures\, and ecological vulnerabilities\, the workshop will offer a platform for experts\, researchers\, policymakers\, and local stakeholders to exchange knowledge and explore sustainable approaches. Discussions will highlight how land-use planning\, ecosystem management\, and traditional practices such as silvopastoralism can contribute to effective wildfire prevention and resilient landscapes. \n\n \n \n \n \n 📅 Date: 13 December 2025\n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n 📍 Location: Hôtel Rihana\, Ain Draham\, Tunisia\n \n \n \n \nThis workshop is an important step in advancing MedFireWise’s mission to strengthen wildfire resilience across the Mediterranean basin through science-based solutions and cross-border cooperation. \nWe invite all interested stakeholders to join and contribute to building more resilient and climate-adapted forest ecosystems.
