SUMMARY:SALAM Launch Event: Building Healthcare Access Across the Mediterranean
DESCRIPTION:On 29 January 2026\, the SALAM project officially starts in Bari\, at the Asclepios III pavilion of the Polyclinic of Bari: a place where care\, research and daily medical practice meet. \nThe Kick-off Meeting brings together partners from Italy\, Spain\, Lebanon and Jordan to begin a shared journey built around a simple belief: healthcare should be closer\, fairer and more human — wherever people live. For the first time\, doctors\, researchers\, universities and civil society organisations will sit at the same table to turn cooperation into action. \nDuring the meeting\, partners will share the vision behind SALAM and begin shaping the work ahead: from the creation of hospital hubs in Beirut and Irbid\, to telecardiology services and mobile medical units designed to reach communities that too often remain distant from care. The discussion will explore how training\, digital tools and research can support healthcare that is not only effective\, but also accessible\, human and rooted in the needs of people and families. \nThe day will mark the beginning of a collaboration built on trust\, shared responsibility and the belief that cooperation across the Mediterranean can help reduce the distance between people and healthcare. \nIn Arabic\, “Salam” means peace.\nAnd in this project\, peace begins with health.
